Is it 'private road' or 'thinking'?

"私路无论如何开阔" I think it translates into: A private road will never become wider.  Meaning (I assume) that thinking in private will not enable one to widen one's world-view.   In the same vein, trying to solve a problem on one's own without seeking others' opinions may not always work.  That's why we sometimes need brain-storming.  (Although most of the time we get only drizzles while the participants help themselves to the free coffee).

I keep hearing this saying over and over on Mixed FM.  I don't really understand the true meaning of what is said.  I'm just guessing.

Asking the Chinese educated one didn't help much since she's not really paying attention except to the pop songs they're playing.  Other than that, all the rest are just ramblings and mumblings and lots of noises.

Anybody with a better translation of the above?  I'm open to some thinking....

  1. after going thru it again, I think I'm wrong. It's probably looked at as: Thinking will always make things broader....

  2. If not mistaken, i think you mean "思路无论如何开阔" , in this case, it would mean "nomatter how far-sighted you are" ......

  3. that doesn't give it a meaning. Maybe I haven't heard the whole quotation?

  4. brainstorm again, 思路 - perception, thinking ; 无论如何 - no matter how, no matter what ; 开阔 - far, open, wide... errr... make it into a sentence...

  5. meaning to say that, deep, perceptive thinking will, no matter what obstacles there are, make a problem wide open (clear) for a solution, (perhaps?)

  6. Wonder where the word "obstacles" and "problem" come from. May be the whole quotation/sentence not yet end. Let's see other's opinion.....

  8. what chiar yee said is "思路无论如何开阔, 人往往还是从自己的观念出发" mean that "no matter how far-sighted, human still start thinking from their own perception". I just re-write the whole sentence. and translate into english.

i have nothing to do with agree or disagree with the above phrase.
