stuck at three o'clock in the morning

To someone stuck at three o'clock in the morning,

On your way back to a happier

or more bearable existence

Life's a long road full of distractions,

obstructions, pot holes and detours

that come in many forms

through your daily journey.

To redeem your self-respect

and to being able to look at yourself

with dignity again,

you're going to need all the help you can get

to get through each day.

But you owe it to yourself

to keep going

and you must remember

to assure yourself each new day

that it will be worth it

to live on.

Occasionally you'll need to look out

and away from yourself

to gain back that perspective

of sharing this world with everybody else.

You're not lost

Just need a little hug to go on

  1. That's a note I found in my archives. I remember it was in response to a little girl who was studying overseas who probably felt lost and alone in the middle of nowhere and she typed those haunting words in her blog...

  2. Here is a joke for you. Got it from someone.

    Thinking Outside The Box
You are driving down the road in your car on a wild, stormy night,
when you pass by a bus stop and see three people waiting for the
    bus:

    1. An old lady who looks as if she is about to die.

    2. An old friend who once saved your life.

    3. The perfect partner you have been dreaming about.

Which one would you choose to offer a ride to, knowing that there
could only be one passenger in your car? This is a moral/ethical
dilemma that was once actually used as part of a job application.
    Think before you continue reading.

You could pick up the old lady, because she is going to die, and
thus you should save her first.

Or you could take the old friend because he once saved your life,
and this would be the perfect chance to pay him back.

However, you may never be able to find your perfect mate again.

The candidate who was hired (out of 200 applicants) had no trouble
    coming up with his answer.

He simply answered: "I would give the
car keys to my old friend and let him take the lady to the hospital.
I would stay behind and wait for the bus with the partner of my
    dreams."

Sometimes, we gain more if we are able to give up our stubborn
    thought limitations.

Never forget to "Think Outside of the Box."

  3. Thanks for that story, Yeshe.

But sometimes you may be tired and hungry or tipsy from the wild stormy night to be able to think out of the box and instead fumble your actions. But the best thing to do is follow what comes out of the goodness of your heart. The sincere person would help someone who needs it without considering his own benefits into the equation.

  4. When I read the title, the first thing that crossed my mind was, "Well some guys get up in the morning get stuck at 12 o'colck and some at 6 o'clock." A quick scroll-down made me realize the piece was about something else. ^_^

Anyway I'm lousy with poems. The only work of art I remember is this:

There once was a man from Nantucket
Who kept all his cash in a bucket.
    But his daughter, named Nan,
    Ran away with a man
And as for the bucket, Nantucket.

  5. I think they call that a limerick... Used to enjoy reading them too.

  6. Yeah. Most of the poems I know come from the dirty joke book. Not exactly works of art of the William Blake variety, hehe.
