Smell a rat with this health check?
How long does it take our health authorities to smell a rat? I mean, about a possible health scam. 4 years. That's how long.
Look at the front page of today's theStar. And look at what my street-smart niece wrote in her blog HERE in the year 2005. And don't forget to read what her experienced uncles, friends and cousins, among them a couple of doctors had to say about it.
Meanwhile, some people have already made a pile out of putting a scare on health conscious young or middle-aged executives et al, with money to spend, and laughing all the way to the bank.

The incidence of real doctors misdiagnosing patients will keep driving people to these quack practitioners. How often have you heard someone say they never had their condition cured despite years of conventional medical care, only to have it fixed overnight by some miracle cure. Might there be a link between lapses in professional healthcare and stories like the one you highlight?
ReplyDeleteI hi-lite this issue because we have too many scams lately. Scaring people about their health is one of the ways to get people to part with their money.
ReplyDeleteI think these days even if seeking professional health care, one has to be educated enough to seek the right doctors. Like taking your car to the mechanic. You have to know a little about what's wrong with your car... Otherwise you end up with an unnecessarily huge bill as some private hospitals tend to try to squeeze more out of a patient (to them you're a customer).
