Prison of the mind

Stop that endless pacing of the floor

Stop that forlorn look at the padlocked door

Scatched markings of every sunrise on the wall

Is not making this life any easier at all

Why stay in prison when you've committed no crime?

When what you see is so much filth and grime,

Why look at those rusty window bars?

When you can look beyond and observe the stars?

Wallow not in the misery of your self made shame

Winning or losing it is all part of an endless game

Embrace the friendship of those who are loving and kind

Rather than be shackled in the prison of your own mind
